Angie McGinnis selected

June 25, 2008

Former University of Florida All-American setter Angie McGinnis has been named to the USA Volleyball 19-player preliminary roster, from which the 12-member squad will be selected to compete in the 2008 Olympic Games.

McGinnis looks to become the first former Florida player to be named to the U.S. Olympic Team in indoor volleyball when the 12-player roster is announced in mid-July with U.S. Olympic Committee confirmation to follow. She would become the second former Gator volleyball player to participate in the Olympic games, as Gudula Staub (1991-92) was a member of Germany’s beach volleyball team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
