Marcie Hampton - SEC Player of the Week

University of Florida senior outside hitter Marcie Hampton has been selected as the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

The honor is the second of Hampton’s career, and comes on the heels of a weekend in which she averaged 5.50 kills per game and hit .545 to lead UF to sweeps of Kentucky and Tennessee. She also posted 10 digs in each match, running her total of double-doubles on the season to nine and marking the fourth time this year that she has accomplished the feat in back-to-back matches.

Hampton, who committed just three errors on 55 attempts during the two matches, hit .593 against Kentucky on Friday night, a performance that ranks as the second-best of her career. She also tied her career high with three aces against the Wildcats. Two days later, she hit .500 against Tennessee, while also chipping in with two blocks and an ace.

Sunday’s match also saw Hampton move into seventh place on UF’s career kills chart and eighth on the school’s career points list. She leads the team with averages of 4.38 kills and 5.06 points per game this season, while also ranking second on the squad with an average of 3.19 digs per game.
