SEC Academic Honor Roll

All 10 eligible University of Florida volleyball players were named to the 2006 Fall Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Friday.

Florida was the only volleyball team in the SEC to reach double figures on the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the total set a school record for the most players earning the award - the previous best was nine in 2002. The accolades come on the heels of a highly successful fall semester for the Gators in which the players collectively set a team record by registering a cumulative grade point average of 3.4.

Seniors Rhian Davis and Stefanie Douglas, juniors Marcie Hampton, Kisya Killingsworth, Kari Klinkenborg, Amber McCray and Angie McGinnis, sophomores Kelsey Bowers and Christina Diaz and redshirt freshman Kristina Johnson were all named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

The award marked the third honor for Davis, Douglas and McCray, while Hampton, Klinkenborg and McGinnis claimed their second award. Killingsworth, Bowers, Diaz and Johnson were named to the team for the first time.

True freshmen Alli Cecchini, Elyse Cusack and Janine Williams are eligible for the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll, which will be announced during the summer.

The Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2006 spring, summer and fall semesters. A student-athlete must have a 3.0 (or higher) for the academic year or cumulative to be named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
