Kisya named Strength and Conditioning All-American
May 8th, 2006
University of Florida sophomore middle blocker Kisya Killingsworth earned the second All-America honor of her career when the National Strength and Conditioning Association recognized her as one if its Athletes of the Year.
Killingsworth was among 242 athletes honored by the NSCA from among the pool of more than 350,000 NCAA student-athletes. During the 2005 season, Killingsworth earned third team All-America honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association and was a first team All-SEC selection.
"When Kisya arrived at the University of Florida, she had never touched a weight in her life," said Matt DeLancey, assistant director of strength and conditioning for Olympic sports at UF. "Kisya has worked incredibly hard over the last two years in becoming a dominant middle blocker. Her work in the weight room and conditioning sessions allowed her to dominate opponents during the 2005 season."
Killingsworth finished sixth in the nation in hitting efficiency at .408 en route to becoming just the seventh player in school history to earn All-America honors as a sophomore.
