April 15th, 2006
The 15-time defending Southeastern Conference champion University of Florida volleyball team concluded its spring season on Saturday by going 1-2 with a win against TCU and a pair of close losses to Texas at the Texas Tornados tournament.
Florida opened the day by dropping its first match of the spring as Texas beat the Gators in three (30-24, 30-21, 30-20). Florida rebounded with a win in their second match as UF beat TCU (30-18, 30-20, 15-10). The Gators closed out the event with an agonizingly close loss to the Longhorns (17-30, 32-30, 36-34). Florida finished the spring season with an 11-2 record.
“We saw areas where we have improved as a group and some areas where we need to get better,” Florida coach Mary Wise said. “The competition today was good for our team and the playing experience was invaluable for a group that includes two true freshmen and a redshirt freshman.”
